Kisaragi Station is not on a map. It is a station in a story that one person told, live, over one night on a Japanese forum.
The posts began late on 8 January 2004, on the occult board of 2channel. The writer later used the name Hasumi. The account says a private-railway train would not stop, and that it arrived at an unmanned station the writer did not know. Then the messages stop. In the way people retell it, the writer is not heard from again. That silence is the scare. This page does not retell the rest of that night. The posts are one person's story.
The name is usually written in hiragana, きさらぎ駅. The first posts did not give kanji. Later retellings tried 如月駅, an old name for the second month, and a few tried 鬼駅. Hiragana is the form that stuck.
What the railway did
The posts name only a private line in Shizuoka, from Shin-Hamamatsu. That points to the Enshū Railway, in Hamamatsu. After the tale spread, the company received questions from the public. For one day in 2022, it changed part of the Saginomiya sign to "Kisaragi."
From late December 2018, and again from 31 December 2020, one train was filled inside with posters. They advertised a manga that uses the story. In 2022 the company sold a souvenir set with a replica ticket "to Kisaragi Station." The sets were gone in about an hour. A film of the same name opened that year.
A real stop, Saginomiya, is the model people name most often. The railway has pointed visitors there. One staff member said the area might have been a little darker in 2004. The station in the story is still not that platform.
How people treat it
Most writers on the tale call it fiction told as if it happened. Some later posts say so outright. Photos said to show the station have been matched to real stations on other lines.
The idea spread past the first thread. People told of other stations that are not on a map. Collectors of strange stories sometimes file the group under ikai-eki, stations of another world. In Taiwan and Hong Kong the name is often written 如月車站.
The public fact is the railway's ticket, the film, and the questions. The ride itself stays inside the posts.
